Comrades from the Revolutionary Communist Group and and Rock Around the Blockade have arrived in Cuba as part of the José Martà brigade, bringing essential materials and building political solidarity.
We are joining the Union of Young Communists and the mass social organisations in Cuba to commemorate the centenary of Fidel Castro and his lasting legacy in the Cuban revolution. The brigade will visit farmers organisations, volunteer on urban agricultural projects, visit children’s centres, exchange with economists, and collaborate with internationalist activists from every continent!
Thanks to months of fundraising, we’ve brought thousands of pounds of medical aid, school supplies and other crucial materials to break the US blockade, which is depriving Cubans of these supplies. But aid alone can’t sustain an island of millions under siege.
The Cubans have fought and died for their self-determination and for socialism. Now more than ever it is important to stand in full political solidarity with socialist Cuba, as it faces imperialist sanctions, threats of invasion and the relentless, genocidal US blockade, which has caused national blackouts on the island and a doubling in infant mortality rates.
This illegal blockade is propped up by the British banking system which prevents trade and transactions to Cuba, whilst the British state refuses to lift a finger.
From Palestine to Angola, Venezuela to the Bronx, Cuba has stood with anti-imperialist struggles around the world for decades. Now Cuba needs solidarity more than ever, we must too stand with the Cuban revolution.
Join us in this effort to break the blockade and help build a revolutionary movement here in Britain that fights back against imperialism!
