For the past four months caravanas of actions against the US blockade of Cuba have been persistently taking to the streets across the world. Activists from Rock around the Blockade and the Revolutionary Communist Group (RCG) in Britain joined the international weekend of actions on 19-20 June. This date was chosen because of the vote against the US blockade at the United Nations on 23 June, where delegates from all UN member states vote to condemn the genocidal economic blockade. When these votes have been held in the past, a vast majority of countries vote in favour of the motion, with only the US, Israel and a sporadic handful of other states saying that the blockade is in any way justified. Next month the caravanas will coincide with the anniversary of the storming of the Moncada barracks during the Cuban revolution. 26 July is an important day in the Cuban revolutionary calendar and there will be national mobilisations by Rock Around the Blockade supporters to ensure that it is adequately celebrated. Activists from Rock around the Blockade and the Revolutionary Communist Group (RCG) in Britain joined the international weekend of actions on 29-30 May. They demanded an end to the United States blockade imposed on Cuba and the rest of the world. As with previous months, these calls to action were answered by activists from all across Europe and the world. This month the demonstrations coincided with a national movement in support of Palestine, so some groups chose to link the two issues and call for broad international solidarity. This was following on from last month's call for demonstrations of solidarity, which was answered by activists from all across Europe and the world. The Revolutionary Communist Group in Britain and its campaign in solidarity with socialist Cuba, Rock around the Blockade, sends congratulations and solidarity greetings on the completion of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) which took place in Havana between 16 and 19 April, on the 60th anniversary of the defeat of the US-backed invasion by Cuban exiles at the Bay of Pigs by the revolutionary government in 1961. We salute comrade Raul Castro Ruz, who stood down as General Secretary of the CPP, Miguel Diaz-Canel, President of Cuba, who took up the role, and the new leadership of the PCC for their extraordinary courage and determination. We send solidarity to the nearly 700,000 members of the PCC, the organised vanguard of the Cuban working masses, who were represented at the 8th Congress by 300 delegates due to Covid-19 restrictions. We applaud their hard work in addressing the challenges and tasks of building socialism in Cuba today under global difficult circumstances, exacerbated by the pandemic and the criminal tightening of the US blockade.

The Cuba solidarity organisation Cubanos En UK have launched a fundraising campaign to purchase essential vaccine supplies to aid the Cuban vaccination programme. Sanctions and the brutal economic blockade from the United States have made essential vaccine supplies hard to come by in Cuba. Cuba's exemplary biopharmaceutical sector has stepped up and are on the verge of completing a coronavirus vaccine, but the blockade has made it very difficult to secure the supplies needed to roll the jabs out. Things like vials, syringes and materials needed to carry out clinical trials are required. We are happy to announce that RATB has made a contribution to this very important fundraising campaign and we encourage anyone who wants to show their solidarity and support for the Cuban revolution to do the same, or share the below URL to spread the word.

UPDATE from Cubanos en UK:
JustGiving has blocked the Cubanos en UK campaign to raise money to buy syringes, to help Cuba’s vaccination campaign against COVID-19. JustGiving has confirmed that its action is due to Cuba being 'one of the countries under sanctions [ from the United States ]'.
Those who donated to the JustGiving campaign will have their donations reimbursed.
Cubanos en UK has set up:
1) an online petition to complain against JustGiving and Crowdfunder UK for participating in the illegal blockade of Cuba. https://www.change.org/cubanosenuk
2) an alternative website for raising this money. https://www.support-vaccination.org/ Payment goes through GoCardless' payment account direct to Cubanos en UK.

Statement to the press by the Director General of United States Affairs of MINREX, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, on the decision of the United States government to include Cuba on the list of State sponsors of terrorism.
As explained yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in firm and absolute terms the qualification of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism by the government of the United States and the inclusion of our country on a State Department list.

In recent weeks, it has become clear that the US establishment is attempting to carry out a ‘soft coup’ in Cuba, as (social) media attacks against the revolutionary state have escalated. These attacks have focused on the alleged persecution of a group of dissident artists residing in the San Isidro neighbourhood of Havana. These dissidents are being given prominence by Trump-supporting Miami-based Cuban exiles who have built up their careers and reputations on broadcasting reactionary propaganda to attack socialist Cuba, even in the midst of the pandemic. Since Trump’s electoral defeat their tone is increasingly desperate, urging Cubans on the island to rise up before Trump leaves office. They recognise that the tide will turn against them under a Biden administration. They are pushing for a soft coup in Cuba.
