Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! readers and supporters group meetings

Wednesday 12 March, 5.30pm R613, Boyd Orr building, Glasgow University

Come along and debate the major political and social issues in the world today, based on articles from revolutionary newspaper Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! From class struggle in Latin America, to anti-imperialist revolt in the middle-east and economic recession in Britain, it is crucial that we get to grips with the earth-shattering events underway across the world through collective discussion and action.

FILM SHOWING: Cuba! Africa! Revolution!

Wednesday 26 March, 5.30pm

PJ Champs bar on Byers Road, near Glasgow University

“This documentary unravels the story of the so-called Cold War, through the prism of its least known arena: Africa. Against colonialism and capitalism, the newly independent nations attempted for the first time to gain real control of their own countries. From Che Guevara’s military campaign to avenge Lumumba in the Congo, up to the fall of apartheid in South Africa, 300,000 Cubans fought alongside African revolutionaries. Cuba: An African Odyssey attempts to understand the world today through the saga of these internationalists who won every battle, but finally lost the war.”

Revolution & Socialism in Latin America

A day of discussion & debate

Saturday 5 April 12-5pm - R234, St. Andrews Building, Eldon Street, Glasgow University

From the barrios of Caracas, Venezuela to neighbourhood committees in Havana, Cuba; from peasant soldiers in the Colombian jungle to indigenous villages in rural Bolivia…the continent of Latin America is aflame with the fires of revolution and socialism. As Britain sinks ever deeper into a stinking bog of imperialist war, recession and increasing inequality, what can we learn from the Latin American example in the struggle for a better world?

Everyone is welcome to join Rock Around the Blockade for a day of discussion on these inspiring processes. With speakers from around Britain, film showings and a social afterwards, it is a rare chance to arm ourselves with knowledge and practical ideas capable of changing the world. Non-students welcome. FREE ENTRY.

Drinks/music after at PJ CHAMPS, 17 Byers Road, Glasgow
